Sandland Brygge is recognized for its fishing grounds – here you can catch halibut and other big fish all year round just by dropping the fishing line into the sea. Fishing is as good as it was back when Sandland Brygge was a thriving fishery.
Sandland Brygge is proud to be able to offer very good fishing opportunities. Here you are almost guaranteed to land a big fish both in the summer and winter. Throwing out the fishing line in the midnight sun and fishing in day light throughout the night offers a fishing experience out of the ordinary. In the wintertime it is the record breaking cod and the northern lights that draws you to Lopphavet. Accomplishment, excitement, companionship and freedom are all elements that make fishing at Sandland an activity that you would like to do again. It creates a desire to come back for more, home to Sandland.
Sandland Brygge has a well stocked tackle shop on-site where you can purchase any extra fishing equipment. We provide storage on the premises if you would like to leave your fishing equipment at Sandland Brygge until your next visit.
CODFISH
Season: February – April. Skrei weighing over 30 kg is more a matter of course rather than a coincidence.
COD
Season: All year round. Cod weighing over 20 kg is caught all year round.
COALFISH
Season: June – August (also all year around). Coalfish weighing up to 20 kg are not impossible to catch.
HALIBUT
Season: All year round (big halibut August – October). Sandland is the home of the halibut. Around 2,000 halibut are caught here every year.
TUSK (CUSK)
Season: All year round. The best fish to barbeque – firm and a fine quality.
PLAICE
Season: All year round. A tasty fish – caught on shallow water. Every year plaice weighting +/- 4 kg is caught.
REDFISH
Season: All year round. Every year redfish weighting +/- 10 kg is caught.
ANGLERFISH
Season: July – September. A difficult fish to catch, but fantastic to eat.
LING
Season: April – June (all year round). Deepwater fish (200-300 meters).
DAB
Season: All year round, best in the summer. A great fish to eat (delicious on toast or a slice of bread).
MARCH – APRIL – MAY
Skrei / the big cod is the main focus. Coalfish, catfish, halibut, haddock and tusk are also caught during these months.
MAY – JUNE – JULY
Big coalfish, cod and halibut is the main focus. Plaice, catfish, haddock and tusk are also caught during these months.
AUGUST – SEPTEMBER – OCTOBER
Halibut is the main focus. Coalfish, cod, plaice, catfish, haddock and tusk are also caught during these months.
